The Big Melt down.....
Well the New Year has begun! We have had the big melt down of ice and snow. Our last patch of snow melted away just a couple of days ago. And I have to say that it is nice to be back to normal Washington weather again. Although no weather has been normal of late, with wind and rain we have been getting, it has been like turning on the fire hose and pelting us with non-stop rain.
I find that I really don't mind it though, I have to say I like the excitement of all, the storms with rain or snow or wind. I'm a true North Westerner and love the change in seasons we experience and the beauty in it all. It adds a element of surprise and excitement. I look forward to the stormy nights and the uncertainty of it all. You find everyone bonds together to help each other instead of just going on with their typical daily routines. Besides it makes my fireplace, candles and my leather chair real inviting to sit in and read a book and snuggle with Oliver or Carle.
I feel such compassion for those right now dealing with the floods. Some areas of Washington have gotten as much as 7 inches of rain. That is just incredible.
So I've kept my self busy with taking the decorations down and I am sorting and purging through all dark corners of our house! Huge job but it's time! Twenty years of marriage and four kids you accumulate so much stuff. Half of which I wouldn't miss! So I'm trying not to feel like this character after the melt down with all my possessions and treasures.
So Yesterday I took a break from purging and I had a fun day with my girlfriends. We spent the whole day yesterday together and went up to Bellevue to watch the movie "Benjamin Buttons", got to love that Brad Pitt!~ Then we had lunch and then to the CONTAINER STORE!!
Going to the Container Store is one part in the process to help me to have any hope in organizing my home with everything that I don't pitch.
This week I have gone to my deepest insecure depths of emotional attachment to stuff and really challenged myself! It's a little scary but equally emotionally freeing. So if I was to say what my "New Years Resolution" is, it would have to be to purge all the unnecessary things emotional or otherwise and to put everything else in its place. And if I have ever shared my deepest darkest corners of my house with you, then you would know this was a necessary task! Oh but I hate to throw and pitch useful things away! The lotions and potions the half used pens and pencils and so on! I hate it. But I will come out victoriously after it is all over and I will be FREE!! LOL
Our year is starting out busy with Emily's Fastpitch season quickly nearing she is spending as much as four hours a day on conditioning getting ready for her tournaments. Jared is starting basketball and Jonathan is practicing for his upcoming piano recital. And Nathan has really done exceptional academically! Carle enjoys updating his Salt water fish tank with the newest technology and I'm starting full swing into my busy season of painting.
In between all this the kids (Emily included) are into Lego's and Nerf guns wars that are the really big hit in our family!
Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year! Let us know what your New Years Resolution is???
